These teams face each other for the first time since the 2006-07 ULEB Cup semifinals. Unics needs to stop Madrid's high rhythm, led by playmakers Sergio Llull and Sergio Rodriguez. The hosts rely on Nikos Zisis and Curtis Jerrells to set the right game tempo, one of the biggest keys to this game. Unics has a lot of firepower at the wings, with two proven scorers in Keith Langford and James White. Langford will test his scoring skills against Jaycee Carroll and Llull. White must use his speed and athleticism against a more experienced Rudy Fernandez in a very interesting matchup. Former Madrid center D'or Fischer has the tough mission to go against Gustavo Ayon and Ioannis Bourousis. Madrid is deeper around the basket, but Kostas Kaimakoglou and Viktor Sanikidze can stretch the floor at the power forward spot against Felipe Reyes and Andres Nocioni. Expect intensity and a lot of action.

Quotes Head Coaches

Unics Kazan
"Real Madrid is an excellent team. They have a great roster, and most of the players have been playing together for long, which makes the team even stronger. They play with a high speed. Because of the high quality roster, they tend to play up tempo all the game long. In other words, Real is a high level team which will be very difficult to play. We will have to show top concentration and give all our energy to win a game like that."
Real Madrid
"Usually, the team coming off the qualifying rounds competes well. Winning that round is not easy, and Unics has very good players. We know both Langford and Jerrells from last year. James White is a solid player. Kaimakoglou is a starter in the Greek national team, Fischer has played here, Zisis, Sanikidze have played in the Spanish League. As a roster, player by player, Unics is a Euroleague-level team, no doubt. We know also that is is one of the toughest trips in this regular season, so we must be ready to face a game in which, even playing good defense, Unics can score at any moment. We must keep improving in many basic aspects of the game. Games and practices will put us in our place, but so far I am happy with our progression. It's important to stay concentrated on the things we practice so that the veteran players and the new ones get the automatisms that we need in the team."

Unics Kazan
"It will definitely be a very big game. Real Madrid is one of the favorites in the Euroleague, one of the best teams in the competition. There is no doubt, it will be a very hard game. We’ll try to be competitive as much as possible to be consistent playing against them. We are happy that Unics is playing such a high-level team. We will do our best to show a good game against a very strong opponent."
Real Madrid
"I go back to Russia after some time and I know that playing there is rather complicated because of the atmosphere and the quality of the teams. And I think Unics is one of the best in Russia. We are still in the middle of the adaptation process, because the team has five new faces. We are still getting to know each other, learning from everyone else. It's not easy, but we have only played three or four games and we will need some time to reach our best version as a team. We are improving things and, for now, we are winning the games, which is what matters."
