The Take

Both teams come in with positive momentum; Lokomotiv comes off its second road win of the Top 16, while Darussafaka ended a string of narrow losses with tis first ever Top 16 win. Now it aims for its first road win. Both teams showed off their defensive prowess in their Top 16 Round 5 wins, though Lokomotiv has ranked among the top defensive teams in the league all season and allows a league-low 70.7 points per game, which dips to 65.3 on its home floor. The visitors boast a veteran squad, which should be up for the challenge Lokomotiv presents. Center Semih Erden has been Darussafaka’s best player in the Top 16 alongside stretch-four Luke Harangody and guard Jamon Gordon. Lokomotiv has stars to match at every positon with the athletic Anthony Randolph at center, the sweet-shooting Victory Claver at power forward and red-hot scorer Malcolm Delaney leading its perimeter attack. Both teams also boast great depth off the bench. In addition to their home-court advantage, Lokomotiv also features two men that played in Turkey last season in point guard Dontaye Draper and small forward Ryan Broekhoff, whose familiarity with the Darussafaka roster only helps.

Quotes Head Coaches

BARTZOKAS, GEORGIOS
Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar
"Darussafaka has a deep roster and undoubtable quality. Most recently, you could see that in their win over Crvena Zvezda and they were real close in the games with Fenerbahce and Panathinaikos. There are no weak teams in the Top 16 and Darussafaka certainly will punish us for every mistake. Once again we need to show our best side and capitalize on what was working well for us recently – great team defense and unselfish offense."
MAHMUTI, OKTAY
Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul
"We’ll play against one of the best teams in the Top 16. I think it’s one of our toughest road games of the season. Therefore we need to stay focused during all 40 minutes. A lack of focus would give them an early advantage and it might be hard to get back to the game. İf we can repeat last week’s good performance we might get a result here in Krasnodar."

Players

DRAPER, DONTAYE
Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar
"They are a really deep team with good players, this is an important game for us – first Euroleague home game in three weeks. We need to perform in front of our fans so we have to be ready."
GORDON, JAMON
Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul
"This week’s opponent is one of the rising teams of the Euroleague. Before all, they are playing very good at home. We need to start off well and avoid them getting an early lead. We want to keep the contact with them and play well the end of the game."
