Assistant coach Sarunas Jasikevicius played for Maccabi in the famous 2004 Top 16 finale against Zalgiris in which Derrick Sharp’s miracle three forced overtime before Maccabi won and advanced to the Final Four.
Jasikevicius had two of his finest seasons in a Maccabi uniform between 2003 and 2005. He helped the team win back-to-back Euroleague titles and Israeli League and Cup doubles, was named to the All-Euroleague First Team both seasons and was the 2005 Final Four MVP. Saras played alongside current Maccabi manager Nikola Vujcic and under current Maccabi assistant Pini Gershon on those teams.
