The opening game of the Kaunas Tournament, part of the Nike International Junior Tournament, couldnt have been easier for debutante Topsportschool VBL, as it racked up a 29-point win over USK Future Stars Prague, 76-105. Naim El Khounchar led the winners with 22 points, Arno Mollekens helped with 18, Stijn Stevens added 17 and Sam Hemeleers contributed 13. For USK, Petr Safarcik also hit 22 points, Jan Krivanek posted 15 and Daniel Truhlar helped with 14. The first quarter was rather balanced as it ended with a 21-26 edge for Topsportschool, but in the second period, the good defense of Topsportschool limited USK to just 14 points and by halftime the score was 35-54. The third quarter did nothing but increase the lead of Topsportschool, thanks to the final 11 of 18 threes scored by the winners while USK got stuck at 4 of 14. In the last period, things were more balanced, but it was too late for USK to try a real attempt at a comeback.
