The quarter ended with the hosts further on top, 21-14, thanks to free throws by Bellas. Taurean Green opened the second 10 minutes by draining a triple to open a double-digit margin. Three minutes went by before a Martinez layup followed by an Erol Can Cinko three-pointer and a Simmons layup made it 26-21. Free throws and an inside basket each by Spencer and Xavi Rey moved the score to 33-24. The hosts widened the lead to 37-24 on a jumper by Rey and layup by Juan Palacios. After Ermis came up with two baskets, Beiran ended the half with a driving basket as Gran Canaria held on to a double-digit lead, 37-28.

"The first and last quarters made the difference. We already knew that they are an agressive team at home on offense and defense. We are a better team than we have proved today."
