The defending champs meet one of their oldest rivals once again. CSKA pounded Maccabi by 19 when they met last month in Moscow, but the Israeli champs seem to be in much better form now. Maccabi’s strength is in its backcourt, where swingman Sylven Landesberg, who comes off a career-best performance, and Yogev Ohayon, who set a club record with 8 steals last week, team with former CSKA guard Jeremy Pargo. CSKA hopes to have Milos Teodosic back to run the show alongside Aaron Jackson, Sonny Weems, Nando De Colo and Vitaly Fridzon. Maccabi will need Alex Tyus and Jake Cohen to step up if power forward Brian Randle remains sidelined. Sasha Kaun is always at his best for CSKA against Maccabi and he has Kyle Hines and Andrey Vorontsevich to bang alongside. The hosts will look to Sofoklis Schortsanitis to handle the workload inside and for veteran forward Devin Smith, who sat out the previous game against CSKA, to provide the leadership for Maccabi to defend its home court.

Quotes Head Coaches

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv
"We’re facing a team that’s in shape and is coming in after 12 straight wins. Brian Randle won’t be playing, and Aleks Maric is in pain and is doubtful for tomorrow’s game. We’ll have nine players. That’s a challenge against such an excellent team. We’re playing with fewer players, but we want to win and guarantee our place in the Top 16. Everyone knows how important this game is, and who the opponent is. We’re going to need a little something extra, because they have two players for every position. We’ll need to give our all, and with lots of energy – more than 100%"
CSKA Moscow
"We don’t forget that we play against the defending champions and we expect a difficult game in the great basketball atmosphere of Nokia Arena. Maccabi is playing well lately taking 3 important road victories in the last 4 Euroleague games. Pargo and Ohayon are playing well, Landesberg is hitting big shots, Haynes adds more threat from the perimeter together with versatile wingman Smith. Sofo is definitely a main focus under the basket but we also have to face Tyus, a different type of center who is playing above the rim and missed the trip to Moscow. As I said we expect a real basketball battle and we will try hard to take the win home."

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv
"Last year we lost to CSKA twice, but we beat them in the Final Four. Everybody talks about CSKA this and CSKA that, but we’re a good team ourselves. We’re going to come and play our game, stick to what we know how to do, and hopefully convert that to a win. Teodosic is a huge part of their team, and does so much for them offensively, and they’re a different team without him, for sure. But regardless, they’re still a deep team; they have a bunch of good players coming in off the bench that are ready to play. We’re coming to the game with the same mentality we would have if he was playing."
CSKA Moscow
"As usually our only intention is to go there and win. Though we understand it won't be that easy. They are extra motivated after the big loss in Moscow, they need to fight in every game to insure their position in the Top 16 and they are playing at home. Still I think we are in good shape, on a roll, and we are ready to continue playing well."
