THE TAKE

With three of its last four games at home, Valencia Basket looks to start a good run of form when it hosts Galatasaray Liv Hospital. Valencia can look to two players that didn’t feature when these teams last met to make the difference on Friday. Galatasaray claimed a 71-64 victory in that game led by Carlos Arroyo. The visitors have no replacement for Arroyo, who became just the second player to play every second of a double-overtime game when he remained on the court for all 50 minutes last week against Crvena Zvezda. Mid-season signing Nemanja Nedovic could seek to tire the older Arroyo in a key matchup. Valencia has benefitted from stellar play from Bojan Dubljevic, who missed the start of the season due to injury. He will face a tough challenge in defensive stud Furkan Aldemir. Serhiy Lishchuk and Kreso Loncar add to Valencia’s strength inside, but Galatasaray is deep to with Kerem Gonlum and Ian Vougioukas. Valencia will turn to Luka Harangody to challenge Round 7 bwin MVP Zoran Erceg. Sinan Guler, Galatasaray’s best perimeter defender, could square off against Pau Ribas or Romain Sato. Ultimately, the key to the game may rest with Nedovic and whether he can trouble Arroyo.

Quotes Head Coaches

PERASOVIC, VELIMIR
Valencia Basket
"We are aware that to win games, we must play much better. Our level has not been very good lately and it is definitely not enough to win this kind of games. Galatasaray is a team that scores easy and if you relax just a little they can run and hit the threes. They have extraordinary individual quality with people like Carlos Arroyo. It looks like they use Kerem Gonlum at center now and then Zoran Erceg, being in such a mobile team, can go up in score in many games. They have loads of offensive quality."
ATAMAN, ERGIN
Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul
"We still don't have a road win. Even if we're missing some players in our roster we want to win this game. Both teams know each other very well, and I believe it will be a good game for fans to watch."

Players

MARTINEZ, RAFA
Valencia Basket
"We must not make any calculations: we must win this game. After a tough domestic loss, we want to bounce back and defeat Galatasaray, which is like a final for us. It is the key game in the Euroleague for us and we want to add our second win in the competition. After losing to Olympiacos, we know we must win the three home games to have some options. We have talked, it is the time to work harder and take a step forward. We failed at home, and we don't want to do that anymore."
ARROYO, CARLOS
Galatasaray Liv Hospital Istanbul
"It will be a tough game but we are strong enough to win tomorrow. It will be a great advantage for us to get a road win in our group. We need to win and we will do our best to accomplish this."
