The Take

A classic continental rivalry will be living another chapter in Round 19 when Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens (12-6) welcomes CSKA Moscow (14-4). Both teams have faced each other 30 times since the turn of the century, with CSKA currently dominating the series, 13-17. The last time they played, in Round 3, CSKA won at home 81-63 with 25 points and 9 assists by Sergio Rodriguez. Nick Calathes remains the leader of the Greens (14.0 ppg. and 8.2 apg.), followed by James Gist and Nikos Pappas (10.2 ppg. each). CSKA, whose coach Dimitris Itoudis won five EuroLeague titles in Athens as assistant coach, turns to Nando De Colo (16.9 ppg.), Rodriguez (14.4 ppg. and 5.2 apg.) and Cory Higgins (13.8 ppg.) as main offensive options. CSKA has the strongest offense in the league (90.3 ppg.), and also leads the competition in collective PIR (105.8). That alone speaks volumes about the flow of the game of this team. However, despite scoring some 13 points less per game, Panathinaikos will be playing at home in a packed OAKA, and will look to bounce back from its last loss to Fenerbahce and to get back to the top spots of the standings, a little closer to leader CSKA.

Head Coaches

PASCUAL, XAVI
Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens
"First of all, I hope that they finished their last game and they will start another one against us! We know that we have to recover our mentality at home. Yesterday we did a great job but it was not enough. We had our chances but we have to forget this. We have to recover physically and we know we will play against another incredible team that is now the leader of the league. They have a deep roster and we have to understand how to play against them. We play with our fans, and I think we have our chances to win."
ITOUDIS, DIMITRIS
CSKA Moscow
"It will be a tough game, the second of a back-to-back, against a strong opponent. We need all our attention, concentration and motivation for this kind of game."

Players

RIVERS, KC
Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens
"We knew coming into this week it would be tough. We try to get as much rest as possible. It's not easy due to the trips but this is what we signed up for when playing the EuroLeague. We have to forget about our last game and get ready for the next one and to protect our home court."
HUNTER, OTHELLO
CSKA Moscow
"It will be a high-energy game. They will be pressing, playing at home after a tough loss. I expect them to have the crowd behind them; they have a good fan base. It will be real loud and I expect them to play hard. We've got to come out there and fight."
