THE TAKE

This marks a crucial Group D clash between two teams tied for second place in Group D. Crvena Zvezda comes home after a tough double-overtime loss at Galatasaray, while Neptunas has won two straight at home, but remains winless on the road this season. Neptunas edged Zvezda 83-81 last month in Lithuania as Deividas Gailius starred for the hosts, Valdas Vasylius scored the game-winner and the team contained center Boban Marjanovic, which is no easy task. Marjanovic leads the league in average performance index rating and in rebounding this season. Power forward Luka Mitrovic has thrived alongside, while point guard Marcus Williams comes off a record-setting assist game. Two of Neptunas’s central players, Mustafa Shakur, who gets the assignment of guarding Williams, and swingman Gailius, have struggled on the road this season. It will take a team effort to hold off Marjanovic, Mitrovic and co. inside; center Simas Galdikas, Donatas Zavackas and reserve Egidijus Dimsa will be among the key players for that task. Even if Neptunas is successful, it mustn’t ignore Jaka Blazic or Nikola Kalinic either.

Quotes Head Coaches

RADONJIC, DEJAN
Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade
"Neptunas has proven with their games this season that they are rightfully a part of the Euroleague society. Although they were considered as outsiders before the start, they showed they have great quality by winning games. They are representatives of the famous Lithuanian school of basketball which is characterized by great scorers. That is the reason why we must play very aggressive defense. We hope that our arena will once again be jam-packed and that our fans will continue to show us great support."
MAKSVYTIS, KAZYS
Neptunas Klaipeda
"Crvena Zvezda have two of the league’s top performers in center Bojan Marjanovic and guard Marcus Williams. Williams set a new Euroleague record with 17 assists last game. I want everything to start from our defense. The game against Zvezda is a very important game for us. A win would put both teams on a good position for the Top 16. Of course the atmosphere in Belgrade arena always is great."

Players

MITROVIC, LUKA
Crvena Zvezda Telekom Belgrade
"Another difficult game, against Neptunas, is ahead of us. The Lithuanian team has the same record as us, three victories and three defeats, and that is the reason why this match is so important. We will try to be focused offensively and aggressive defensively and to prevent their open shoots for three points. We hope that we will be able to secure another victory with the great support of our fans."
SINICA, JUSTAS
Neptunas Klaipeda
"Against Crvena Zvezda we have to play very hard defense. The team that plays better defense will be the winner. Kombank Arena is a place where the fans push a lot, and there is pressure for everyone on the court."
