THE TAKE

Köln 99ers stands good chances of reaching the elimination round as it welcomes winless Ovarense Aerosoles in its Group B finale. Head coach Sasa Obradovic's Köln side will advance to the next round with a victory or a loss by Elan Chalon. The German side missed a chance to book its spot in the elimination round last week, losing at FMP to fall to 5-4 and a three-way tie in second place. Köln was out-shot 44%-46% but really lost the game at the free throw line where FMP made 21-of-30 fouls shots compared to 12-of-18 for Köln. Point guard Immanuel McElroy led Köln with 17 points while power forward Aleksandar Nadjfej collected 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals off the bench. But small forward Toby Bailey was held to just 3 points in 36 minutes though he did contribute 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. But Obradovic's team must expect a fight against Ovarense, which lost by only three points at home in Week 5 as Bailey saved Köln with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Ovarense Aerosoles meanwhile is looking to bow out of the ULEB Cup with its first victory. Head coach Mario Leite's Portuguese side dropped to 0-9 losing at home against Besiktas. Ovarense shot 48% from the field but saw Besiktas hit a blistering 63% from the field. And Ovarense was out-rebounded 34-26 in the loss. Playmaker Cordell Henry led the way with 16 points as five players scored in double figures for Leite's team. Reserve center Nuno Cortez had 14 points and shooting guard Ben Reed scored 13 points. But it was not enough.
