THE TAKE

A pair of Top 16-bound giants looks to finish off the regular season in style. The game has no impact on Panathinaikos, which will be third in Group C regardless of the outcome. Barcelona is the presumed group champion, but it could clinch the top spot with a victory. The only way for Barcelona to drop to second would be for it to loss, for Fenerbahce Ulker to beat FC Bayern Munich and for the combined margin of victory from the two games to be at least 60 points. Barcelona topped the Greens 78-69 when they met last month in Spain through a balanced effort. A series of injuries on the wings has forced Coach Xavi Pascual to rely heavily on rising star Mario Hezonja and DeShaun Thomas. They will be challenged by the likes of AJ Slaughter and Vlantimir Giankovits. Panathinaikos coach Dusko Ivanaovic could give extended playing time to youngsters Eleftherios Bochoridis or Vasilis Charalampopoulos. The Greens always play hard at home and will never take it easy on a rival like Barcelona, so this game should be an entertaining fixture.

Quotes Head Coaches

IVANOVIC, DUSKO
Panathinaikos Athens
"The result of this game is more for the prestige. Both teams had made the Top 16 and also we know that we can’t change our position in the standings. But I have to say that this is an important game if we consider that we have a lot of big games following our schedule: PAOK for the semifinals of the Greek Cup, Olympiacos for the Greek League and also the beginning of the Top 16 is following. So we have to stay focused and play hard."

Players

BLUMS, JANIS
Panathinaikos Athens
"Although we know that the result of this game does not affect the standings, we want to make a good game and try to win. This is gonna be good for us for our fans as we all know that Panathinaikos has pride and is a winning team. We respect Barcelona, they are one of the best team in the competition. We have to give our 100% because we have crucial games following, against PAOK for the Cup semifinals, against Olympiakos for thw Greek League and of course the 1st week of the Top 16."
