Khimki hopes to remain undefeated atop Group D when it hosts Azovmash Mariupol. Coach Kestutis Kemzura's Khimki survived a final comeback by SLUC Nancy to win on the road and improve to 6-0. The Russian team shot 53% from the field including 10-of-23 (43%) from long range while holding Nancy to just 3-of-14 (21%) from beyond the arc. Small forward Kelly McCarty's 18 points paced seven players with at least eight points while center Vladimir Veremeenko added 11 points, including some big foul shots in the final minute. Kemzura's team was able to overcome 18 turnovers and will have to take better care of the ball against Azovmash. In Week Two, Khimki committed just eight turnovers in winning by just two points. Azovmash meanwhile held on at home against Anwil Wloclawek for its second straight win to improve to 3-3. Coach Rimas Girskis's Azovmash shot a blistering 60% while holding Anwil to 47% from the floor. Four of Girskis's starting five scored in double figures - small forward Rodney Buford had 9 points and 8 rebounds - and guard Tomas Delininkaitis added 10 points off the bench. With Nancy even at 3-3, Azovmash would love to upset Khimki and possibly get a leg up on Nancy. Avenging a two-point loss at home could provide the last bit of needed motivation. But Azovmash went wild from long range as Delininkaitis knocked down two three-ball and Buford also hit one and Aubrey Reese evened the game at 37-37 to complete a 2-11 run. Ponkrashov and Rannikko answered with triples in Khimki's 12-2 surge but Buford's trey at the buzzer cut the lead to 49-42 at the break. Wilkinson hit the first basket of the second half. Liadelis scored twice to cut the margin back to 51-46 only to see Ponkrashov's free throws made it 55-46. Khimki was still leading 61-55 before Lang hit three baskets and Loktionov second twice to open a 63-66 advantage, which was down to 65-66 going into the fourth.
