THE TAKE

The youngsters at FMP get their first taste of the road, hoping to knock off Elan Chalon and move to 2-0 in Group B. Predrag Samardziski totalled 22 points and 10 rebounds in FMP's solid home win against Ovarense Aerosoles. Vlada Vukoicic got plenty of contributions from his reserves as well as the bench scored 42 points. The young Serbs out-rebounded the Portuguese 32-18 but do have some areas to improve, shooting 25% from three-point range while committing 21 turnovers. Elan led going into the fourth quarter at Köln 99ers last week but couldn't grab the road victory. Gregor Beugnot's troops took some bad long distance shots down the stretch but will have learned from the game. Rowan Barrett poured in 25 points, but John Ford struggled from the field, making just 2-of-11 shots.

Shawnta Rogers scored 35 points to help Elan Chalon to conquer their first win of the season by crushing FMP 96-79 on Tuesday night at home. Chalon now has a 1-1 record in Group B to share the second place with the Serbian team. Rogers posted 6 of his 7 two-pointers and 5 of his 9 attempts from downtown and was perfect from the foul line scoring all his 8 free throws. Jermaine Guice added 20 points, Rowan Barrett 16 and John Ford 10. Zoran Erceg led FMP amassing a double-double of 26 points and 10 boards, Marko Djerasimovic nailed 18, Bojan Krstovic 12 and Dragan Labovic 10.

Elan Chalon kept on running early in the first quarter to get a 7-4 margin with a downtown shot of Shawnta Rogers, to finish it still ahead on 18-15 despite the final bucket of Bojan Krstovic. Jermaine Guice fueled the hosts with consecutive three-pointers to increase the difference to 32-26 while Rowan Barrett from the foul line fixed a double-digit advantage, 45-34 at halftime. FMP tried again to recover back from the lockers fueled again by Krstovic and Zoran Erceg, but Elan Chalon sparked another 10-3 run capped from downtown by Barrett to be in front 57-40 after four minutes. Rogers followed his outstanding shooting performance to push Chalon on 77-57 after 30 minutes. Despite FMP's big effort to stay in the game, the hosts maintained safety margin to get an undiscussed and deserved win.
