Galatasaray Cafe Crown hosts undefeated Alba Berlin with a golden opportunity to tighten the race for the elimination rounds in Group A playing in front of its home supporters. These two teams are anything but strangers having faced off just last Tuesday. In that first encounter, Alba was victorious by the score of 87-77 in the German capital. Galatasaray knows that this time around it will have the home-court advantage as a valuable sixth man, which the team will need to hope to turn the tables on one of the deepest and most complete teams in the competition. All nine Alba rotation players are averaging 13 or more minutes of playing time. Last week Immanuel McElroy, Julius Jenkins and Adam Chubb all tallied 16 points to lead an incredible six Alba scorers in double figures on the way to the win. On the other hand, it is no mystery where Galatasaray looks to get its points with four starters scoring 14 or more a game and providing the lion’s share of their team’s offensive production. Center Radoslav Rancik is averaging 24 points and will match up against Alba starter Blagota Sekulic and Chubb off the bench. Guard Darius Washington seconds Rancik with 19 points a game and will once again have a duel with Alba’s top scorer Jenkins (18 ppg.). Forward Mike Wilkinson lit Alba up for 20 points and forms a deadly pair with wingman Simas Jasaitis. Alba will yet again try and outlast them with starters Dragan Dojcin and McElroy and substitute Derrick Byars. Alba can call on guard Rashad Wright and backup floor general Steffen Hamann, who will be critical in maintaining the pressure on Galatasaray during 40 minutes.
