The Take

A classic EuroLeague duel will be taking place on Tuesday when Panathinaikos Superfoods Athens (8-4) hosts Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv (7-5) in Round 13. This will be the 21st time these two sides meet in EuroLeague action, and the winner will break the current 10-10 tie between them. The Greens come from a valuable win against Milan last week, while Maccabi lost to CSKA in Moscow. Nick Calathes, who stepped out of the court last round with an injury and won't be available against Maccabi, leads the hosts (13.6 ppg. and a league-best 7.9 apg.), followed by KC Rivers (11.7 ppg.) and Nikos Pappas (10.5 ppg.). For Maccabi, Pierre Jackson is still the main contributor in offense (14.1 ppg.), helped by Norris Cole (13.4 ppg. and 4.3 apg.) and DeShaun Thomas (12.9 ppg.). The Greens have the third best defense in the competition (77.2 ppg.) but Maccabi's not too far away on that front (80.1 ppg.), however, the guests dominate the battle under the glass (competition best marks with 38.2 rpg. and 4.1 bpg.). In offense, Panathinaikos holds its best cards in 3-point shooting (40.9%) while both teams rank at the very bottom of the free throw charts. Much of the game's outcome relies on whether or not Calathes will be on the court. He already missed this weekend's Greek League game, so it will probably be a game-time decision for him. Maccabi wants to get back to the winning path, and if it does that in front of a packed OAKA, the win would almost be worth double.

Head Coaches

SPAHIJA, NEVEN
Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv
"Calathes is one of the best players out there, but any great team can play with some players absent. I don't think it will be an easy game at all. We have to be better, more focused and play good basketball for 40 minutes if possible. We had a good practice and I hope we can show it in this next game."

Players

ROLL, MICHAEL
Maccabi FOX Tel Aviv
"I feel much better from my injury. We're focused on what we do as a team. Of course, Calathes is a major player and someone will step up for him, but we have to try to focus on our thing."
