The German champs are still seeking their first ever Top 16 victory after a frustrating overtime loss last week. Unicaja comes off its second straight road win to improve to 3-4 and is just one win out of fourth place. When they met in the Top 16 opener, Marcus Williams scored 19 points off the bench as Unicaja rallied in the fourth quarter for an 85-82 victory. Brose Baskets has changed since that game, with power forward Jeremiah Massey joining the club and set to make his first Euroleague appearance of the season. His addition will strengthen the frontcourt and allow star forward Bostjan Nachbar to play more at small forward. The center position will continue to be manned by Maik Zirbes, Philipp Neumann and co. That depth will be important against Unicaja, which boasts Fran Vazquez, Luka Zoric, Augusto Cesar Lima and Kosta Perovic in a loaded frontcourt, while power forward Andy Panko could be the perfect matchup for Nachbar. Bamberg had rallied from 16 down in the fourth quarter to within 1 on a Sharrod Ford basket with a minute and a half to go. Then Ford and Bostjan Nachbar both had contested threes in the closing seconds to tie the game, but missed and Unicaja ran off with the win. Their home crowd was great, they made some big shots and played tough defense. But we withstood it. We had a tough week of practice. Coach put us through a lot of things and we definitely needed that win. Zoric has been playing big for the past month or two. That’s nothing new for us. We throw the ball inside and we know we’re going to get a bucket or at least a good shot out of it. He’s been playing great for us."
