Two teams with different momentum in Group F are set to meet for the first time ever when Caja Laboral Vitoria hosts Besiktas JK Istanbul on Thursday. Vitoria is on a five-game winning streak and tied with Montepaschi Siena and BC Khimki Moscow Region atop Group F. Besiktas is tied for sixth place at 0-2 and has lost its three last road games. Expect Besiktas to try to break with its recent past, playing with high intensity against Vitoria, which has been unstoppable since Coach Zan Tabak's arrival. Besiktas needs its big men to win the battle under the boards, as one of the reasons to Vitoria's recent success has been its rock-solid frontcourt. bwin MVP for December Maciej Lampe offers shooting range and post moves, Nemanja Bjelica adds versatility, ball-handling and three-point shots, Milko Bjelica can play in transition and power the boards and Tibor Pleiss is his team's main defensive stopper due to his long arms and great timing. Nemanja Bjelica faces a very interesting matchup against Damir Markota, who comes off a good individual performance against Olympiacos. We amassed a 20-point difference and the game could have turned in a very different way if we had relaxed. We didn’t, so I’m pretty happy because of the attitude I saw in my players. We were not very accurate in offense during some moments of the game, but we managed to solve several situations and get easy points from our defense. One of our targets as a team is to control the rebound, and we did a great job tonight of that. Another target was to improve our defense, and even though we are not at the best level we can be, each day that passes we improve. I don’t think Besiktas is an easy opponent at all. They have the talent, they have a very good coach, and they can hurt any team in the group."
