A last fight to make it to the Turkish Airlines Euroleague regular season begins in France, as Le Mans Sarthe Basket hosts BC Khimki Moscow region in Game 1 of the final two-way Qualifying Round series on Tuesday. The winners of this series will seal its ticket to the Euroleague regular season and the loser will play the 2010-11 Eurocup. Khimki is the only undefeated team in the 2010-11 Qualifying Rounds - and the only one that swept its Round 2 series last week. Le Mans has registered consecutive double-digits wins in its two Qualifying Rounds home games against Banvit and Asvel. Khimki will have to be ready to stop Antoine Diot, in great shape recently. Diot has stepped up in crunch time, using his size and talent to make the difference. He is set to share the point guard duties with pass-first playmaker Marc-Antoine Pellin - even when both players may share playing time on court. Diot faces a tall point guard like Zoran Planinic, who likes to take his opponents to the low post. Planinic also offers deep range and know-how. His backup will be Raul Lopez, always offering ball circulation, court sense and unlimited range. Le Mans needs to stop Keith Langford to have chances to advance. Langford has been Khimki's leader so far, scoring in many ways with great determination. Khimki has more options at both wings with three-point threat Thomas Kelati, slasher Vitaliy Fridzon or versatile forward Sergey Monya. Alex Acker seems the right player to guard Langford due to his experience and athleticism. Ben Dewar and Charles Kahudi will share playing time at both wings. Dewar offer explosiveness and deep range while Kahud is a tremendous athlete ready to put Kelati or Monya into trouble. JP Batista leads Le Mans' frontcourt with his post skills and mid-range shots. Le Mans has other options around the baskets such as blue-collar center Ryvon Covile, rebounding ace Thierry Rupert or physical big man Alain Koffi, who has played with great consistency so far. Batista faces an interesting matchup against Kreso Loncar, who has been unstoppable lately despite seeing limited playing time. Aleksey Savrasenko may see extended playing time if Benjamin Eze - who missed last Friday's game - is still sidelined with an injury. Fedor Dmiriev can break any game with his long jumpers and mobility. Expect nothing but an intense, interesting game at Antares on Tuesday.
