Regular Season, Round 12

Two more teams qualified for the Top 16 in Week 12, however the real story was how the mighty fell. Of the teams in first or second place in the three regular season groups, only CSKA Moscow was victorious this week. While Winterthur Barcelona, Tau Ceramica, Olympiacos and DKV Joventut losing are all surprises, none is bigger than previously undefeated Panathinaikos. The Greens went down at Unicaja, which joined the four-way tie for fourth place in sticky Group B. The newest qualifiers were Maccabi Tel Aviv and Efes Pilsen, however some of the final spots could come down to the wire with tight races going on in each group. Prokom Trefl leads Climamio Bologna by one victory for fifth place in Group A, but those teams clash in Poland in Week 14. Partizan Belgrade, Cibona Zagreb, Lottomatica Roma and Unicaja are all stuck at 5-7 with two guaranteed tickets remaining from Group B, while in Group C, three 6-6 sides – Benetton Treviso, Pau-Orthez and Aris TT Bank – lead the 5-7 teams – Fenerbahce Ulker and Eldo Napoli – for the last three advancing spots from Group C.
