Pleiss joins Caja Laboral Vitoria infirmary
Tibor Pleiss and Milko Bjelica - Caja Laboral Media DayCaja Laboral Vitoria continues to suffer health problems in its frontcourt as new center Tibor Pleiss was diagnosed on Tuesday with mononucleosis, a viral infection that puts him in doubt for the early part of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Regular Season, which his team due to start on Thurday, October, 11. Pleiss was suffering from severe throat pain on Monday and team doctors diagnosed him on Tuesday, saying it was as yet not possible to say how long the sickness will last, but the player will be monitored on a week-to-week basis. Pleiss becomes the third Caja Laboral big man on the sidelines. Milko Bjelica lost the end of the preseason and the first Spanish League game on Sunday while being treated for knee problems. He was supposed to be out two weeks total. Earlier Tuesday, it was announced that backup power forward Unai Calbarro was to undergo surgery for a hernia and would miss at least a month on the court. One more center, Maceij Lampe, who missed all of last season with an injury, played less than 3 minutes in the team's Spanish League opener, a road loss, on Sunday.
