WHAT'S NEW
The Euroleague's winningest active player and a four-time champion Sarunas Jasikevicius is back wearing the scarlet and blue uniform he won his first Euroleague title in almost a decade ago. Barcelona retooled its frontcourt with centers Nathan Jawai and Ante Tomic forming a strong duo, while elite talents Marko Todorovic at forward and Alex Abrines at guards provide depth now and perhaps stardom to come.

THE BACKCOURT
This virtually unchanged unit features the Euroleague’s all-time leading scorer and record six-time All-Euroleague selection Juan Carlos Navarro, plus premier playmaker Marcelinho Huertas. With the addition of Jasikevicius and the confidence and winning attitude of defensive specialist Sada, Barca has unequalled depth at guard. The numerous options on both ends of the floor pile up for head coach Xavi Pascual with the intensity, leadership and scoring ability of small forward Pete Mickeal, explosiveness of shooting guard Xavi Rabaseda and three-point shooting of Joe Ingles.

THE FRONTCOURT
Three-time All Euroleague selection Erazem Lorbek is back to carry the load among the big men. Equally dangerous in the low post or when scoring threes, Lorbek will look to find chemistry with the two newcomers. The size, finesse and creativity of Tomic combined with the sheer force of Jawai make them polar opposites as players, which could create chaos for opposing frontlines. Equally important will be ability of C.J. Walace to fill in for Lorbek, rebound and stretch defenses with his outside shooting. With Todorovic in a reserve role, Barca's sizeable frontcourt has the pieces to win immediately.

OUTLOOK
With nothing short of a dream backcourt, frontcourt players who can create for others and an intensive team defensive outlook that shattered records last season, Barcelona is once again among the automatic title contenders. Its hunger to win after falling short the past two seasons should not be overlooked either, as Coach Pascual’s troops will be poised to make a run all the way to London.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Nathan Jawai
The Australian center brings an impressive mix of power and speed. By playing alongside superstars Lorbek and Navarro, Jawai should find space to maneuver in the paint and when he gets the ball in the right position, there is no stopping him. At the other end, Jawai's ability to rebound, intimidate and block shots makes him a virtual lock to be a major factor. All told, a big season from the big man could put Barca in the driver’s seat this year.
