Maccabi loses Caner-Medley for a month
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv forward Nik Caner-Medley will miss at least the start of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Top 16 with a leg injury, the club announced Sunday. Caner-Medley, in his first Euroleague season, suffered a thigh muscle tear during Maccabi's last regular season game against Alba Berlin. After an MRI test on Sunday, the club announced that he will need one month to recover, which should mean at least two Top 16 games on the sidelines. Caner-Medley was an All-Eurocup first team selection last season with Valencia Basket of Spain, and a second-team selection in the same competition one year earlier with another Spanish team, Asefa Estudiantes. So far this season with Maccabi, he was averaging 2.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in 9 minutes per game.
