Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv power forward Lior Eliyahu is expected to be sidelined for at least two weeks due to a knee injury. Eliyahu, the team captain, was injured midway through an Israeli Cup quarterfinals game against Hapoel Holon on Sunday. He twisted his knee in the first half and left the court the help of Maccabi's medical staff. Eliyahu strained knee ligaments, as confirmed by an MRI late Sunday night. As such, Eliyahu will miss the Israeli Cup semifinals and - if Maccabi wins - the final later this week, as well as his team's upcoming Turkish Airlines Euroleague game against FC Barcelona Regal. Eliyahu has averaged 10.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 16 Euroleague games until now. The injury came one day after Maccabi released another power forward, Malcolm Thomas, who had been Eliyahu's backup for much of the season.
