VEF Riga extends Janis Berzins

Janis Berzins, VEF Riga (Photo: FIBA)Latvian champs VEF Riga made official another move in order to get ready for the Turkish Airlines Euroleague qualifying Rounds and it is none other than a three-year extension to young talent Janis Berzins. Berzins (2.01 meters, 20 years old) comes fresh from taking the silver medal with Latvia in the U20 EuroBasket, where he averaged 15.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 10 games. He was also chosen to the All-Tournament Team. Last season, Berzins was sent on loan to BK Valmiera of the Latvian League where he played 43 games averaging 15.4 points, 7.0 boards and 2.4 assists plus 1.0 steals. He started his career in 2009 and has been showing an impressive progression since then, making him one of the top prospects to watch out for in Latvian basketball.
