Final Four stars to help UNICEF "Unite for Children"
UNICEFThe first official act of 2007 Final Four in Athens is a truly special event that comes with an even more special purpose: to lift concern for children into a spotlight that will shine throughout the weekend and beyond. On Thursday, May 3, as part of Euroleague Basketball's new campaign in support UNICEF's programs for children, players from each Final Four team will visit to the Agia Sofia General Children's Hospital in Athens, one of the largest children's hospitals in all of Europe. Starting at the 2007 Final Four, Euroleague Basketball will participate in UNICEF's "Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS" campaign as an official sponsor in order to draw attention to the plight of children and young people around the world hurt by AIDS. The players visiting Agia Sofia hospital will hand out Euroleague Basketball gifts, including signed balls, t-shirts, scarves and toys. They will also take pictures and sign autographs for children at the hospital.

The players scheduled to visit the children at Agia Sofia are among the biggest stars in world basketball. European champion Dimos Dikoudis and former ULEB Cup Final MVP Robertas Javtokas will represent Panathinaikos. Olympic champion Luis Scola and All-Euroleague nominee Pablo Prigioni with represent Tau Ceramica. World champion Berni Berni Rodriguez - UnicajaRodriguez and Euroleague's second-best all-time scorer, Marcus Brown, will represent Unicaja. Defending Euroleague champions Matjaz Smodis and David Andersen will represent CSKA Moscow.

Besides those who visit the hospital, players from all of the teams in action at the Final Four - CSKA Moscow, Panathinaikos, Tau Ceramica and Unicaja - will sign balls and shirts that will be sold throughout Final Four weekend in order to benefit the "Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS" campaign. The merchandise signed by the players will be sold for charity benefit at UNICEF stands inside both Athens Olympic Indoor Hall arena and the main hotel for Final Four guests throughout the weekend. The stands will feature UNICEF merchandise, too, and will offer visitors the chance to join the campaign against AIDS as members.

The Euroleague Basketball Final Four, which crowns the competition's annual champion, will take place at OAKA arena in Athens from May 4 to 6.
