The top Euroleague Basketball players of the 2006-07 season were honored at a gala dinner attended by a world basketball elite of almost 1,500 people at Megaron Concert Hall in central Athens on Saturday night. The awards ceremony came with a twist, as a tie in the voting for the best point guard of the season was resolved in the most crowd-pleasing way.
Theodoros Papaloukas of CSKA Moscow was chosen as MVP for the season
, while
Dimitris Diamantidis
of Panathinaikos was also included as point guard on the All-Euroleague First Team. Papaloukas and Diamantidis were joined on the first team by shooting guard

The All-Euroleague Second Team features point guard Pablo Prigioni and shooting guard Igor Rakocevic, both of Tau Ceramica, small forward Ramunas Siskauskas of Panathinaikos, power forward Matjaz Smodis of CSKA and center Lazaros Papadopoulos of Dynamo Moscow. The awards dinner also recognized Diamantidis as the Best Defender Trophy winner, Rakocevic as the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer Trophy winner and Rudy Fernandez of DKV Joventut as the Rising Star Trophy winner. All awards were based on a combination of fan and media voting except the top scorer, based on best average points during the season.
