Milan loses center Samuels until 2014
December 1, 2013
Samardo Samuels - EA7 Emporio Armani - EB13In the thick of the Top 16 race, EA7 Emporio Armani Milan has lost its starting center, Samardo Samuels, for the remainder of the regular season due to injury. Samuels (2.06 meters, 24 years old) broke his right hand in Milan's two-point road loss to Zalgiris Kaunas on Friday and will not be able to play for six to eight weeks, the club announced. Samuels was averaging 9.4 points, fourth-best on the team, and 4.1 rebounds, third-best, in his first Euroleague season until the injury. Milan is already without another big man, the veteran Angelo Gigli, who has yet to play due to injury this season, the same as one of its bigger forwards, Kristjan Kangur. Samuels underwent successfully surgery on his broken hand Sunday. Milan is tied for second place in Group B with a 4-3 record and three games remaining.
