Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv will be without star center Sofoklis Schortsanitis for the coming weeks after the big man went down with an ankle sprain. Team doctors confirmed the diagnosis on Wednesday. He will be treated with physical therapy in hopes of returning to action as soon as possible. Schortsanitis, an All-Euroleague First team selection in 2011 with Maccabi, averaged 8.5 points per game in 11 Turkish Airlines Euroleague games this season.
The good news for Maccabi is that its other All-Euroleague center, Shawn James, is expected to suit of this week against Lokomotiv Kuban after missing the club’s last two Euroleague games with back trouble.
