CSKA lands Nikos Zisis
Nikos Zisis - Benetton Treviso One of the top young guards in the world switched Euroleague teams on Wednesday, when CSKA Moscow officially announced the signing of Nikos Zisis to a three-year contract. Zisis (195, 23) arrives from Benetton Treviso to join his club teammate of the last couple years, Marcus Goree, who signed last week with CSKA. At Benetton last season, Zisis averaged 11 points and 4.3 assists in 20 Euroleague games. He and Goree helped Benetton to win the 2006 Italian League, the 2006 Italian SuperCup and the 2007 Italian Cup titles. Zisis has also played for AEK Athens, helping his team to lift the Greek League trophy in 2002. He is also a regular member of the Greek national team, which he helped win the gold medal in EuroBasket 2005 and make it to the World Championships final in 2006. "We are very glad that we were finally able to announce Zisis, who was pursued by many teams besides CSKA," CSKA vice president Andrei Vatutin said. "There are no doubts that Zisis can become a star of European basketball very soon."
