In just his second season with FC Barcelona, Ante Tomic is already building a legacy. Milan marks his third Final Four in only four full seasons in the competition. The 27-year-old center has played his way onto the All-Euroleague team and has won three monthly Euroleague bwin MVP awards, more than any other player since his debut in the competition at the start of the decade with Real Madrid. Earlier this year, Tomic became the first man ever chosen as bwin MVP of the Month twice in the same season, which he did in back-to-back months, February and March.
Tomic developed his ball skills and court vision at a young age in his native Croatia, learning to play as a guard before growing to 2.17 meters. Tomic soon became a force around the rims, but never lost the knack to play away from the hoop. After six years with his first professional club, KK Zagreb, where he was the 2009 Adriatic League MVP, Tomic has not disappointed under the bright lights of the Euroleague.
Having been a starter since he joined Madrid at midseason in 2010, and for Barcelona the last two years, Tomic has proven himself to be among the most productive and reliable Euroleague players this decade. No player has accumulated more rebounds than him over the last five seasons. He is also ranked among the top 10 in points, performance index rating and games started. And no center is even close to the 150 assists Tomic has dished out in that span. He first tasted the Final Four in 2011 with Real Madrid, and reached the same stage last year with Barcelona. Still waiting to win a game at the competition's pinnacle event, Tomic has arrives to Milan determined not only to end that drought, but to help Barcelona climb onto the Euroleague throne for the third time this century.
