Memi Becirovic A new Euroleague champion might have to deal with an unusual opponent next season - his father. Union Olimpija has announced that its new head coach is Memi Becirovic, whose son happens to be Panathinaikos star Sani Becirovic. The elder Becirovic led Helios Domzale to historical success last season, winning both the league and cup double in Slovenia. Becirovic will be returning to Olimpija, having coached the youth program there previously, when his son was a player at the club. He has also coached at three other Slovenian clubs - Branik, Rogla and Elektra - as well as at Rimini in Italy. Becirovic's hiring highlights a makeover at Olimpija. Also hired have been assistant coach Gasper Potocnik, conditioning coach Miha Fajon and physiotherapist Sebastjan Ogris, the personal trainer to Slovenian NHL ice hockey star Anze Kopitar. Union Olimpija is also sending a team to ULEB Summer League in Jesolo at the end of this month.
