Zalgiris Kaunas has announced that its first signing for the 2007-08 season will be an old friend, forward Dainius Salenga, who played four previous seasons with the club. Salenga (197, 30) signed for two seasons. He arrives home from a two-year stint in Akasvayu Girona of Spain, where he won the FIBA Cup last season. He averaged 6.9 points, 2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.1 steals in 21 minutes per game over those two seasons in Girona. After having started his career with Sakalai of Lithuania, Salenga spent between 2000 and 2005 with Zalgiris, averaging double digits as a scorer in national competition his last four seasons. In his last Euroleague season with Zalgiris, Salenga averaged 12 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 33 minutes per game. "I chose the opportunity to play in the Euroleague," Salenga said. "Zalgiris has changed many players from the days when I was playing, but team's spirit remains the same."
