Maccabi adds power in Fizer
Marcus Fizer to Maccabi Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv has added another power forward to its roster with the signing of Marcus Fizer for the next two seasons. Fizer (203, 29) arrives from Polaris World Murcia, whom he helped survive a season in the Spanish League for the first time in 10 years. Fizer averaged 18.9 points and 6.8 rebounds for Murcia while shooting 54% from two-point range. He would have topped the Spanish League scoring leaders if he had played one more game last season. Fizer is currently with Capitanes de Arecibo in the Puerto Rican League. Fizer had begun his career playing three seasons at Iowa State, where he finished with averages of 18.9 pooits and 7.4 rebounds. He was chosen fourth overall in the 2000 NBA draft by Chicago, where he played four seasons, averaging 12.3 points and 5.6 rebounds in the best of those. He spent the 2004-05 season with the Milwaukee Bucks and the following season was MVP of the NBDL.
