Unicaja Malaga bolstered its front line with the addition of All-Eurocup center Vladimir Golubovic on a one-year deal with an option for a second season. Golubovic arrives from Aykon TED Ankara Kolejliler, where he was one of the most dominant players in the Eurocup last season. He recorded the second-best performance by any player appearing in more than 10 games in any Eurocup season with an average performance index rating of 26.6. In leading a first-time Eurocup team to a quarterfinal appearance, he posted 19.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game and collected double-doubles in almost two-thirds of his games. Golubovic also claimed three weekly MVP honors, and twice more in his team’s defeats had the best index rating of the week.
Golubovic previously played in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague with Union Olimpija Ljubljana and Laboral Kutxa Vitoria and has posted 6.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 23 career games. He started his career with Vojvodina, in his hometown of Novi Sad in Serbia, and during his career the veteran center also played in Spain for CAI Zaragoza, with Banvit Bandirma and Antalya in Turkey and for Azovmash in Ukraine.
