Galatasaray signs swingman Pocius
Martynas Pocius - Zalgiris Kaunas - EB13

Galatasaray Liv Hospital kept improving its Turkish Airlines Euroleague roster for next season by reinforcing its perimeter with the signing of experienced swingman Martynas Pocius to a one-plus-one-year deal on Wednesday. Pocius (1.96 meters, 28 years old), a veteran of five Euroleague seasons, arrives from Zalgiris Kaunas in his native Lithuania, where last season he averaged 10.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 20 Euroleague games. He also posted 9.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2 assists per game in the Lithuanian League. Pocius played college basketball at Duke University before returning to Europe to join Zalgiris for the start of his professional career in 2009. He moved to Real Madrid in 2011, staying there for two seasons, before returning to Zalgiris last summer. Pocius won domestic titles with Madrid and Zalgiris in the past two seasons, and now comes to Turkey, where he previously had success as a member of Lithuanian national teams. Pocius helped Lithuania with the bronze medal at the 2010 World Championships in Turkey, and was the third-leading scorer at the 2006 U20 European championships in Izmir, Turkey, averaging 20 points per game. He also won silver medal with the Lithuanian national team at EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia.
