Polish League champs Prokom Trefl Sopot leaped into the summer signing season with a four-pack of newcomers and an extension of their key young player. Together, the moves revamp the center position, bring veteran leadership to the backcourt and keep homegrown talent on the wings. At center, Prokom signed a Euroleague champion in Thomas Van den Spiegel and an Olympic champion in Ruben Wolkowysky. At point guard, Prokom landed veteran Travis Best. At small forward, newcomer Krzysztof Roszyk will join Filip Dylewics, whose contract was extended. Van Den Spiegel (214, 29) was the Euroleague's second-best shot-blocker last season, with 1.3 rejections per game, despite playing just 14 minutes on average. He comes from CSKA Moscow, the team he joined in February of 2006 and helped win that season's Euroleague title. Wolkowysky (207, 34) started all season for BC Khimki, averaging 9.1 points over 12 games of the ULEB Cup. He won the Olympic gold medal in 2004 as starting center for Argentina. Best (180, 35) arrives from Italian League finalist VidiVici Bologna, for whom he put up 8.4 points, 3.3 assists and 1.3 steals last season. Roszyk (200, 28) put up 5.4 points in 16 minutes per game for Polish League finalists Turow last season. They all join Dylewicz (202, 27), who put up 4 points and 3.1 rebounds in 18 Euroleague games off the bench this season.
