Davis Bertans - Partizan NIS Belgrade - EB13

One of the most intriguing young shooters in the world, power forward Davis Bertans, has found a new Turkish Airlines Euroleague home with the announcement Saturday that Laboral Kutxa Vitoria has signed him to a three-year contract. Bertans (2.05 meters, 21 years old) arrives from Partizan NIS Belgrade, where he spent two seasons interrupted by an almost year-long knee injury. He averaged 6.6 points and shot 47% on three-pointers over 10 Euroleague games during the 2012-13 regular season for Partizan. Then he returned from the injury during the 2013-14 Top 16 to average 12.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 22 minutes over four games. Bertans had debuted in the Euroleague at age 18 with Union Olimpija Ljubljana and was a double-digits scorer by his second game, posting 12 points against Montepaschi Siena. On November 1, 2012 against Barcelona, Bertans became one of just four teenagers this century to make 5 three-pointers in a Euroleague game. (The others were Mihalis Pelekanos of Peristeri in 2000, Marco Belinelli of Climamio Bologna in 2005 and Dusan Sakota of Panathinaikos Athens in 2006). On his shooting hand, Bertans is missing half of the ring finger, which he lost in a wood-cutting accident as a 13-year-old.
