Maccabi signs guard Vonteego Cummings
Vonteego Cummings - Partizan Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv added one of the final pieces to its roster with the announcement that point guard Vonteego Cummings has signed a two-year deal. Cummings (190, 31) arrives from Serbia, where he spent that last year-and-a-half with Partizan Belgrade, with which he won both the Adriatic League and Serbian league titles this season. During the Euroleague season, he beat Maccabi with Partizan in Belgrade and had a chance to do the same in Tel Aviv, but missed a potentially game-winning jumper at the buzzer. Cummings averaged 12.9 points, 3.4 assists and 1.6 steals per game in the Euroleague last season.

Cummings's career took off at Pittsburgh University, where he excelled enough to be chosen in the 26th spot in the 1999 draft by the Indiana Pacers. He was then traded to the Golden State Warriors, where he played two seasons before moving to the Philadelphia 76ers. His first team in Europe was FuturVirtus in Italy, with which he played the ULEB Cup in the 2003-04 season, and averaged 15.8 ppg. and 5.8 rpg. The next stops were Hemofarm Vrsac of Serbia and the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBDL, where he started the 2005-06 season before signing with Partizan.
