Prokom Trefl team profile
Prokom TreflIf there is one team that claim to have represented its basketball-loving country better in over the last three seasons, that is Prokom Trefl Sopot, the four-time champions of Poland. Founded in 1995, the club just needed a decade to establish itself as the team to beat in Poland. STK Trefl Sopot started its basketball activities in the Polish third division, where it went undefeated. It also took the team another year to reach the Polish first division in 1997. After a couple of slow, the club finally reached its first title by winning the 2000 Polish Cup. With players like Josip Vrankovic, Igor Milicic, Filip Dylewicz or Darius Maskoliunas, Prokom managed to win another Polish Cup title in 2001, as well as making it to the Korac Cup quarterfinals in its European competitions debut. Prokom landed Mike Ansley and Gary Alexander in the 2001-02 season, where it returned to the Korac Cup quarterfinals, losing against Lokomotiv. The team reached the Polish League finals that it lost against Slask Wroclaw. The 2002-03 season saw Prokom, now with Goran Jagodnik, Tomas Masiulis or Joe McNaull, return to the Polish League finals, losing this time against Anwil Wloclawek. It was a question of time for the club to win its first league title. Prokom went all the way to the FIBA Europe Champions Cup final, losing against Aris BSA 84-83 on a put-back basket by Miroslav Raicevic. It was time for Prokom to go one step higher and join the ULEB Cup, where Prokom made its debut in the 2003-04 season. Prokom was second in its regular season group before losing against eventual champs Hapoel Jerusalem in the eighthfinals.

Prokom finally won its first Polish League title, downing Slask in the finals to seal a Euroleague ticket. In 2004-05, Prokom achieved what no other Polish team had before, making it to the Euroleague Top 16, a success that wrote a new page in that country's basketball history in just its debut season in the competition. A five-game home winning streak was decisive for Prokom to advance to the Top 16. Back in Poland, Prokom beat Anwil 4-1 in the Polish League finals to win another league title. Despite being unable to reach its Euroleague results achieved a year earlier, the 2005-06 season, Prokom, claimed its third consecutive Polish League crown. The arrival of players Huseyin Besok and Donatas Slanina allowed Prokom to return to the Top 16 last season, showing it can beat anyone, anywhere. Back home, Prokom won its fourth consecutive Polish League finals, downing BOT Turow Zgorzelec 4-1. There is no time like the present for Prokom, that also looks to the future with great ambition, ready to join the Euroleague Basketball elite.
