Virtus extends Giovannoni

Guilherme Giovannoni - VidiVici Bologna Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna has officially announced that small forward Guilherme Giovannoni extended his contract for three more years, until the end of the 2009-10 season. Giovannoni (202, 26) arrived in Virtus last season and averaged 10 points and 5.5 rebounds in 45 Italian League games last season. He helped Virtus to make it to both the Italian League and the Italian Cup finals. Giovannoni has also played for Benetton Treviso and Lauretana Biella in Italy, Fuenlabrada and Gijon Baloncesto in Spain, BC Kyiv in Ukraine and Pinheiros in his native Brazil. Giovannoni is also a regular member of the Brazilian national team and took part in the 2006 World Championships, averaging 8.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in 5 games. He helped Benetton to win the Italian Cup in 2004.
