One of the best shooters in European basketball is ready to return to the Euroleague after a one-year absence, as Montepaschi Siena has reached an agreement with scoring ace Rimantas Kaukenas to extend his contract for two more years, until the end of the 2008-09 season. Kaukenas (192, 30) averaged 16.2 points in 43 Italian League games season, helping Montepaschi to win its second Italian League title and only losing 5 games in the entire competition. Kaukenas also averaged 13.5 points in 14 ULEB Cup games, as Montepaschi made it to the quarterfinals before losing against Unics Kazan. He has also played for Cantu in Italy, Telekom Baskets Bonn in Germany, Oostende in Belgium, Hapoel Galil Elyon in Israel, as well as for Lietuvos Rytas in his native Lithuania. He has also been a member of the Lithuanian national team and helped Rytas to win the NEBL title in 2002. "I am very happy for this agreement with Mens Sana Basket," Kaukenas said.
