Montepaschi tabs Vlado Ilievski
Vlado Ilievski (photo: Virtus Bologna) Montepaschi Siena stocked up its backcourt by inking playmaker Vlado Ilievski to a two-year deal, with a team option to extend it for a third season. Ilievski (190, 27) arrives from Virtus Bologna, where he averaged 12.5 points and 2.4 points in 34 Italian League games last season, during which he helped Virtus reach the Italian League finals, the Italian Cup title game and the FIBA EuroCup final four. He previously played for Lottomatica Roma in Italy, FC Barcelona in Spain, Union Olimpija in Slovenia and Partizan in Serbia. Ilievski is also a regular member of the FYROM national team. He helped Barcelona to win the Spanish League title in 2004 and also lifted the Adriatic League trophy with Olimpija in 2002. "I am very happy to have signed this contract with Montepaschi, a club with great tradition that built up a great reputation as a first-level organization," Ilievski said. "I am a very ambitious player and I am now in a team in where I can work to achieve my ambitious goals."
