Madrid extends Smith, Sekulic
Charles Smith - Real Madrid  - UC Final 2007 A pair of ULEB Cup winners will make their Euroleague return in the 2007-08 season as Real Madrid has announced that center Blagota Sekulic and scoring machine Charles Smith inked respective one-year contract extensions. Smith (193, 31) averaged 12.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 17 ULEB Cup games last season while Sekulic, who joined Madrid from PAOK before the start of the elimination rounds, averaged 7.9 points and 4.3 rebounds in seven games. Both Smith and Sekulic helped Madrid win the ULEB Cup and the Spanish League titles. Smith was named MVP of the ULEB Cup Final after scoring 19 points on 6-of-8 three-point shooting in the title game against Lietuvos Rytas. Sekulic has already played the Euroleague with Buducnost, Partizan and AEK Athens in the past, while Smith won the Alphonso Ford Top Scorer trophy (20.6 ppg.) playing for Scavolini Pesaro in the 2004-05 season.
