Brose Baskets Bamberg have strengthened their backcourt ahead of their return to the Euroleague with the signing of New Zealand international Mark Dickel. The veteran guard will make his Euroleague debut with the German champs. Dickel (187, 30), who has played for a plethora of teams in Europe, began last season in Poland with Anwil Wloclawek and went on to average 8.9 points and was second in the competition with 5.7 assists per game in nine ULEB Cup appearances. He left Anwil during the season and signed for Maroussi in Greece, but his stay there was short due to an ankle injury. Since bringing his trade to Europe in 2002, Dickel has played for Fenerbahce and Erdemirspor Belediyesi in Turkey, Telindus Oostende in Belgium and Lokomotiv Rostov in Russia, in addition to Anwil and Maroussi. He has also played professionally in New Zealand and Australia and collegiately at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas. Among Dickel's international highlights have been playing for the Tall Blacks at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games and the 2002 and 2006 World Championships.
