FC Barcelona reached a new agreement with shooting guard Marcus Eriksson to extend his contract until the end of the 2017-18 season, the club announced Wednesday. Eriksson (1.96 meters, 21 years old) joined Barcelona in summer 2011 and arrived from Basquet Manresa. He played for Barcelona's youth teams and also returned to Manresa before joining the first team this summer. Eriksson, who was set to make his Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut with Barcelona this season, got injured in a Spanish League game against Laboral Kutxa Vitoria. He torn his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and had a broken lateral meniscus in his left knee. "I am very happy because it means the club trusts me," Eriksson said. "I thank FC Barcelona for its confidence. I hope I can help the team as soon as possible."
