Union Olimpija Ljubljana made its first two signings of the upcoming season official on Friday by penning Bojan Bakic and Maurice Bailey to deals. Bakic (197, 24), a forward, signed a one-year deal while Bailey (183, 26) joins the team for two seasons. The moves come after eight players from last season's squad have left the team. Bakic arrives from Serbian club Hemofarm Vrsac, where he spent the last four years. Last season Bakic returned from a serious knee injury suffered in September of 2005, which allowed him to play in only two ULEB Cup games – the eighthfinals series against Unics Kazan in which he totaled 7 points. In the Adriatic League. he averaged 4.6 points per game. He grew up with Buducnost and made his pro debut there during the 2000-01 season. Bakic won the Adriatic League with Hemofarm in the 2004-05 season. Bailey arrives from Lokomotiv Rostov of Russia where he averaged 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 11 FIBA EuroCup games and 12 points, 2.2 boards, 2.2 assists and 1.7 steals in 31 Russian-League games. He previously played for SLUC Nancy and Etendard de Brest in France.
