Brose Baskets signs Aussie center Luke Schenscher
German champion Brose Baskets Bamberg made a big move to ensure they'll be ready in the paint for the upcoming Euroleague Basketball campaign by signing Australian center Luke Schenscher to a one-year deal. Schenscher (216, 24) arrives from the Portland TrailBlazers of the NBA. The big man has a rich basketball history in his native Australia, where he became the first player ever to get called up to the national team while still in high school. Schenscher then moved to the United States to attend Georgia Tech, helping the team to the 2004 NCAA title game. After finishing his four-year stint with the Yellow Jackets, he played parts of two seasons in the NBDL for the Fort Worth Flyers and was names to the 2007 All-Star team. Schenscher finished each of his NBDL seasons in the NBA, getting called up to the Chicago Bulls in 2006 and the Blazers last season. Before signing for the Blazers, he was averaging 9.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in just 23 minutes per game. Schenscher is currently training with the Australian national team for the upcoming Oceania championships in New Zealand with a berth at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing on the line.
