Lottomatica Roma announced a key signing over the weekend by bringing in guard Allan Ray from the Boston Celtics. Ray (188, 23) signed a two-year deal with the Italian powerhouse. A native New Yorker, Ray rose to stardom in college at Villanova University, where he averaged 15.4 points in 129 career games and placed sixth on the school's alltime scoring charts. At the end of his senior year in 2005-06, Ray was named to the All-Big East Conference first team and selected as one of four finalists for the prestigious Naismith Award given to the national college player of the year. Last season Ray joined the Celtics, where he took part in 47 NBA games – including five starts – and averaged 6.2 points per game on 41.4% three-point shooting. This will be Ray's first time playing in Europe.
