Slovenian powerhouse Union Olimpija will have one of the biggest players in the Euroleague this season after the signing of Mirza Begic from Geoplin Slovan, the club announced Monday. Center Mirza Begic (220, 22) inked a two-year deal with Olimpija. Last season with Geoplin Slovan, Begic averaged 9.8 points, 6 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 26 Adriatic-League games. He started his career during the 2001-02 season with Sloboda Dita and then spent a season with the Union Olimpija junior team and another in Triglav. After that, he moved to Italy to join Virtus Bologna, but came back home and signed for Geoplin Slovan in 2006.
