TICKETS NOW ON SALE FOR 2007 NBA EUROPE LIVE PRESENTED BY EA SPORTS™ IN MALAGA AND MADRID
– Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors to play top Euroleague and Spanish ACB teams –
PARIS, FRANCE, August 7, 2007 – Fans can now purchase tickets for NBA games in Malaga on Oct. 9 and in Madrid on Oct.11 as part of 2007 NBA Europe Live presented by EA SPORTS™, the National Basketball Association and Euroleague Basketball announced today.
The Memphis Grizzlies will play Euroleague Basketball semifinalists Unicaja on Oct. 9 at the Palacio de Deportes José Maria Martin Carpena in Malaga at 20h00. Tickets range from 25€ - 55€ and can be purchased on-line at www.masticket.com. Fans will also be able to watch live on Canal + with a rebroadcast later that night on Cuatro. In preparation for the upcoming NBA season, Memphis will hold training camp in Malaga Oct. 5 – 8.
In Madrid, the Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors will participate in a double-header of games on Oct. 11 at the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid.
In the first game, the Grizzlies will play local team MMT Estudiantes of the Spanish ACB at 18h30, broadcast live on Canal +. The second game will feature the Toronto Raptors against the current Spanish League and ULEB Cup Champions Real Madrid at 21h30, to be screened live on Cuatro. Tickets for the double-header range from 36€ - 105€ and can be purchased on-line at www.ticktackticket.com or by calling +34 902 15 00 25.
Spain’s most celebrated basketball player, NBA All-Star Pau Gasol, will make his second appearance in the country with the Memphis Grizzlies. Memphis played in Barcelona in 2003.
Toronto’s Spanish duo Jose Calderon and Jorge Garbajosa will play for the first time in the Spanish capital wearing a Raptors uniform. The Raptors, who boast an NBA record eight international players, will initially hold training camp in Treviso, Italy before traveling to Rome for a game against the Boston Celtics on Oct. 6 and a game against Euroleague team Lottomatica Roma on Oct. 7.
Babybel Queso will serve as a local marketing partner for NBA Europe Live in Spain. Marca, the official newspaper of NBA Europe Live presented by EA SPORTS™ in Spain, will join national telecasters Canal + and Cuatro as media partners for the events. Pan-European marketing partners for the tour include EA SPORTS, adidas, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor's Authority (LVCVA), Champion, The Coca Cola Company, GameStop and Spalding.
As part of 2007 NBA Europe Live presented by EA SPORTS™, four NBA teams will travel to six European cities in four countries. Joining the Celtics, Grizzlies, and Raptors in Europe are the Minnesota Timberwolves who will hold training camp in Istanbul, Turkey before playing a game against Euroleague team Efes Pilsen on Oct. 6. The Timberwolves will then travel to London, England, where they will play against the Celtics on Oct. 10.
The inaugural NBA Europe Live presented by EA SPORTS™ visited seven cities in five countries and drew more than 36 million viewers, 115,000 spectators, and 18 marketing partners in October 2006. After the 2007 NBA Europe Live Tour, NBA teams will have played 41 games in 15 cities throughout Europe over the past two decades.
